Pitch In to Gussy Up Fogo Azul NYC!

We are FogoAzul! New York City's premiere Brazilian American style drumline. We're looking for financial donations from our friends, family, and fans! We're heading into our 6th year soon and it's time to make a formal costume change.

We have a saying in Fogo Azul: The Pants Unite Us.

Yes, while we all wear our Blue shirts, or our super cool performance shirts, it's always the pants that make us look so exciting and bond us as a squad. New Pants are in the works!!

Finding the right material and the right design for what we do is difficult--we march, we dance, our drums rub against our knees, and we do this outside in all sorts of weather. And...we need pockets! :)

 

Starting in July of 2016 we had these pants that were bought online and titled "Flame Beach Pants". We lovingly referred to them as our "Pajama Pants". You can see them well in this photo from January 2017 with their blue flames on the lower half:

 

 

Then in late 2017 we embarked on a journey to make our own pants. Our resident designer, Suso took on this task. Mind you, at the time we only had about 30 members.

 

We made our pants with flames on either leg. The flames were 2 different pieces of fabric stenciled, then hand cut. Two for each pair of pants, and each flame took about 45 minutes to put the iron-on backing on, trace, cut out, assemble, iron onto the pants, and then for security, sew them onto the pants!

 

Then in 2018 we had the brilliant idea to cut out letters in flame shapes that spelled out Fogo Azul and line them down the back of each leg. This was pain-staking and difficult, and time consuming because the band had now grown to about 75 members in only two years= 8 letters on each pair of pants x 75 people= A LOT

 

We had cut and sew parties--pants parties!

Since the covid pandemic, we did a lot of re-thinking of the pants and the amount of time and resources it takes to make them. While it's amazing to make our own costumes, it's not sustainable.

 

Fogo Azul has grown to 110 members, and we get about 30 new inquiries to join every month! It's incredible, and we'll keep growing.

 

We're getting new pants! Track pants ! They're going to have our new signature pattern on them, and retain the Fogo Azul down the back of each leg. Of course they will also have our signature blue flames around the ankles and up the legs. And...pockets which are so important.

 

The total cost of the pants is around $7500!

Each pair of pants total costs around $50 with shipping.

We need at least 150 for now in anticipation of our growth!

Donate $50 and supply a pair for a member, donate $100 for two members!

 

But wait, there's more!!!

Matching zip hooded sweatshirts! Yes, we said track pants, but we want the top half too! We've also lined up matching sweatshirts! They will be manufactured the same way--with our signature flames up the sleeves, our signature pattern on the back, and FOGO AZUL across the front.

These cost around $30 each and for 150 of them an additional $4500! But lets start with the pants first!
