Pirates Park

My warmest regards, Go Fund Me patrons. It's story time and I've clearly got my work cut out for me to explain why I want 500,000 dollars; to explain why that even begins to matter to you.

Being something of a cynic myself, I can only imagine your first thought on why some nobody from nowhere deserves that much money. To be fair, the short answer is - I don't. Not that much. But to continue telling the truth, I'm asking for a whole lot more. To truly get started and finish our beginning, we need 3 million.

I digress, the story. The Park- Pirates Park.
Once upon a time, there was a family amusement center. It had an arcade, mini-golf, batting cages, bumper boats, and a go kart track with a crossover bridge. Children from far and wide came there to celebrate and play. All was well. Or so it seemed. Pirates Park is in Flint Michigan. For those of you who have never heard of it, it was named one of the most depressing, violent cities for the Nth year running. The only press we seem to get is tragedy coverage. Surely something clean and bright couldn't survive here. Could it? Perhaps, but one day, many years ago, that Park did die. Boarded up and forgotten. Tucked away where no one but the hooligans come to spray paint curse words in barely legible English.

While this story does seem to be a dark tale indeed, I have not told you the whole tale. I told you the tale that they would tell you. I haven't told you of the old bones of this town. Of the strong roots of my city. There is a deep love in Flint Michigan. The kind that is only won through hardship. The kind that only lasts when shared with friends, when I say I want to reopen Pirates Park.

What I mean is I want to create a port. Where the sailors and captains of this weary town can rest and regroup. Where we can make new beginnings part of the business plan. What I am proposing is a profitable non-profit. A self sustained center of support for my community. A place where we can all profit by sharing the workload. We are reaching out to community leaders for partnerships that will promote existing community programs, and create new. Work hand in hand with local business to promote growth and make space for new entrepreneurs to venture out. I want a showcase for artists of all genre to be able to express themselves.

And games. Of course there will be games; any and everything under the sun. We'll fight and compete, we'll celebrate victories and mourn our losses, and dust off and go at it again. If you and your friends have ever had a grand night of "Wouldn't it be cool if.... What if we all got together and..." That is the plan. It's not just my friends who get to play, though. It's every one.

I can't go to Flint flipping Michigan, you say. I'll never see this park no matter how nice it sounds. That's where you'd be wrong, boy-o. This Park will be a grand show for all to see. LiveStream in Concert; we'll have races and plays, podcasts and contests. We want to become your new favorite pastime. In person or not. You'll have a voice as well. A say in what games we play. A chance to win some yourself. (Phase 7 is robots you control remotely to inhabit the park)

It's a big world out there. I know there are people like me who just want to see something good. Something honest and earnest. I genuinely want and need everyone's help to make this happen. I have a group of people ready and willing to make sure this is a successful venture. We aren't rich, clearly, but we know how to get this job done.

So please, if there is anything you can do to help me make this a real live attraction, an honest to goodness dream come true for as many people as we can help; donate to the Pirates Park fund.
