Erik Parker's Cancer Help

Meet Susan. Susan is a 6cm carcinoma (tumor) inside of Erik’s head near the nasal cavity. Because Susan is very needy, she has brought along an entourage who live inside of his lymph nodes causing a host of issues including his inability to hear out of his left ear, trouble breathing, and pressure on his jugular. It’s time for Susan to go and we’re going to kill her with fire, the problem is that the fire is going to demolish Erik until it goes out and we will need some help.  In all seriousness: After months of visits they finally decided to take a biopsy of the tumor inside of Erik’s neck/head and it turns out that it is stage 4 Nasopharyngeal cancer. While “stage 4” is often the scariest thing you can hear, we’re told that it isn’t as scary as it sounds and it is not a death sentence. Luckily the cancer is isolated above the collarbone and has not spread to the rest of his body. Due to his age and overall health the oncology team has decided to take a strong stance, siting its efficacy on other cases and studies. Erik intends to continue working as much as possible during this time, but we were recently informed that it will be nearly impossible for him to continue during initial treatment which is slated to take 12 weeks (starting very soon). After that they will reassess and then start him on chemo/radiation which we are hoping will be milder to the point where he can work more often. While we LOVE his new job, he has only been there for about 4 months, and is still contracted through an agency which means no sick leave and due to how long it took to find this perfect job, his short-term disability is unlikely to make things livable. His treatment and job are both located in Orange County so unfortunately, he will not be able to move in with me to ease the burden, and we’re looking for help wherever we can get it. We’re looking to cover rent, car payment, utilities, food etc while he’s in treatment (about 20-25 weeks total), the stress of bills is the last thing he should have to focus on right now. It’s going to take a lot to keep going and we appreciate anyone who can help however they can. They have been sending the funds to a Simple account that we opened when we started this process so that Erik or I can access the money whenever we need to without having to juggle around other finances.
