Piper’s end of life care

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shi. Roughly 3 weeks ago, I adopted this sweet old boy Piper who was very neglected, traded for drugs and repetitively abandoned around town.. He was 90lbs when I rescued him and so so frail. Yet was still such a big sweetheart. I knew he was an older dog, and wanted to give him a loving last few years of his life. Unfortunately, his time came sooner than we could have expected..

Within 3 weeks of rescuing him, he weighed 123lbs and was doing much better. In such a short time, we grew to love this dog dearly. He never left my side.

Unfortunately on Thursday, September 12th the vet found a massive tumour in his bowels. His health very quickly deteriorated and it breaks my heart to say we had to let him go today, on the 14th of September. Much too soon.

I have never asked for help before but as we know, losing a pet is very expensive. This was very sudden, and so close in time to the costs associated with taking him in and getting him back in shape.

Here is a breakdown of the costs associated with his end of life care..

Initial assessment and diagnosis'- $300
Crossing over - $150
Cremation - $690

If anyone donates to Piper, I thank you so sincerely and deeply. It breaks my heart that he was on the streets for so long starving, abandoned time after time. But I feel honoured to have gotten to know such a good sweet boy and to have been loved by him. As I sit here missing him already, I’m so glad he got to go with his dignity. Surrounded by people who love him, instead of suffering alone in the heat.. No matter the costs, I don’t regret a thing.
Thank you.
