For those of you who don't know her, Jasmine is an amazing woman who devotes her life towards caring for critically ill pets in a veterinary ICU. She is an extremely hard-working overnight nurse that prides herself on making sure that her patients are clean, comfortable, and happy.
Unfortunately, on January 16, she had to be taken to the ER and was hospitalized for complications related to a congenital Chiari Malformation. According to NIH.gov, "Chiari malformations are structural defects in the base of the skull and cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance. Chiari malformations may develop when part of the skull is smaller than normal or misshapen, which forces the cerebellum to be pushed down into the foramen magnum and spinal canal. This causes pressure on the cerebellum and brain stem that may affect functions controlled by these areas and block the flow of cerebrospinal fluid."
Jasmine had emergency brain surgery on 1/26/18 to fix her Chiari Malformation, and since then has had to be laid up in a hospital bed away from the comfort of her own home. She was transferred to a rehabilitation facility and will likely stay there for a minimum of two weeks depending on her progress.
Jasmine is a strong, fiercely independent, self-made woman, but it looks like she will have to be out of work for quite a while. She lives by herself with her two doggies (who have been at a boarding facility ever since she got hospitalized), and is a new homeowner. Without our help, all of these things that she has worked so hard to obtain may be in jeopardy. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can share.
