Pimp Danica's Ride

Danica Palsson is a 9 year old sweet, loving girl , who happens to have a very ugly disease, Rett Syndrome! Rett syndrome is a neuro developmenal disorder that affects girls almost exclusively. It is characterized by normal early growth and development followed by a slowing of development, loss of purposeful use of the hands, distinctive hand movements, slowed brain and head growth, problems with walking, seizures, and intellectual disability. It is said it's like having Parkinson's, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy all in one little girl. Danica suffers from seizures, loss of hand movement, speech and her ability to walk.  Danica has been wheelchair bound since the age of 4. As a family we have been having an increasingly harder time getting Danica and the rest of our family out and about. Danica's wheelchair has now grown to a size that it is almost impossible to lift in and out our vehicles. Danica needs a wheelchair van! The price of a new mini Van is one that many families with young children incur. However the price to equip that Van to meet the need for a young growing lady in a wheelchair are absurd. We have been quoted anywhere from as low as $20000.00 and above , depending on the type of van and conversion we get. This is considered a "luxury" item and none of these cost are covered by any insurance or charity!
Having a child  that is disabled we as a family attempt to be as "normal" as possible. Being able to be mobile at a whim is important  to us and in our current state , is just not possible. The simple task of going to the store for milk needs to be well thought out and planned, ie;two adults to lift Danica's chair into the truck, two adults to go to get said milk as to lift Danica and her chair out of truck, and so on. So far to often Danica stay's home as it is a logistical nightmare. We look forward to the day when we can just pack up the whole family and go! We are looking to have a Van by September 2018, and we need your help! Funds will go directly to purchasing an existing outfitted Van or to equip a new  Van with wheelchair modifications.
