On September 23, 2019, Pierre Gibbons ran into his elderly neighbor's house to save her from a house fire. Since returning home from the hospital in June 2020, Pierre has enjoyed spending quality time with family and adjusting to his new life at home. We are humbled by the generosity of friends and strangers who have helped us build a renovation to Pierre's home which is now handicapped accessible. We had a second request for a chair lift and again you came through for our hometown hero.


Now, Pierre has been sent home requiring daily, full-time health care that is not covered by insurance.  While the family is navigating the health system and applying for programs that will hopefully provide financial help for Pierre’s required care, we need financial support.  We are desperately asking again for help as Pierre continues his recovery at home and the appropriate services he deserves can begin! Every day brings new challenges. Pierre needs help with all of his daily activities. He is working hard to walk again on his own but he still has a way to go! Pierre needs help getting out of bed in the morning and into his wheelchair, help with medications three times per day, toileting and bathing, help with meals and drinks, and into bed at night. He needs around the clock care.  Initially, we were told that insurance would help cover a portion of Pierre's home health aides. Unfortunately, only his physical therapy and wound care are covered for several hours per week. The rest of his care is being paid for out of pocket nearly depleting Pierre's account quickly. While we apply for state and Veterans' programs that may be able to assist with these costly home health aides, we find ourselves asking once again for donations. It could be months before any of these home care programs are approved  and home health care is roughly $7500 per month out of pocket. We are really stuck and need your help!
