Pidyan Shvuim

Greetings.

My name is Shloima Samet the son of R' Mordche Yitzchok ben Feiga Yides Samet Shlita.  I'm running this campaign to help my father gain freedom from prison so that our family can be reunited again.  He's been in Federal Prison for over 15 years on a 27 year sentence, for financial white collar crime. He has paid all alleged victims back 100% for their losses.  The only people who continue to suffer are my dear mother, siblings and elderly grandparents and extended family.

In no way can we describe the pain and suffering that we have been going through for these many years. I want to mention here that we are thanking the community, individually and as a whole, for all the help that they gave to us, for legal expenses and living expenses for all those years. My whole family is very thankful for all those that have helped us in the past and those who continue to help.

This campaign is to raise money to help and lobby for my father's freedom, and also relieve his suffering while he is in prison, to take care of his daily needs, special Kosher food, telephone calls, letters, clothing, shoes, etc. (life in prison is expensive).  For a full explanation about why inmates need money

There is a movement for prison reform and President Obama is granting more clemencies than any other president in the history of the United States. You can view more information on everything about clemency, and how to help my lovely father personally at www.freesamet.com

My father has submitted his clemency petition to the Pardon Attorney, and now I and other family and friends are working hard to make sure that the president grants him clemency.  Much of this requires funding for advertisements, networking with people to help, lobbying, phone calls, messages, etc.  Many things have not been executed or done properly due to the lack of funding.

So, dear Yiddishe brother please help my father and my family by giving us your kindly donation, [and possible $5, $10 a month] you can fulfill the great Mitzva of Pidyan Shvuim which the Rambam says on it “There is no greater mitzvah than Pidyon Shevuyim.” (Hilchos Matanos Aniyim 8:10).

With honor, respect and hope that everyone will participate in this great mitzvah.
