Piccola's veterinary expenses

Piccola has recently been diagnosed with severe diabetes. The emergency hospital recommended she stay for a week to have her blood sugar, etc., monitored on a regular basis. Her owner, Dante Santini, couldn't afford to do that because he is suffering from leukemia and has no more money. He had already maxed his credit cards for earlier charges for Piccola's care, but was able to borrow a friend's to pay for Piccola's most recent crisis. The hospital said the cost to do what they need to do will be about $6000. He can't afford the expensive medication she needs so has been working with some natural medications that are cheaper, but they have not been working. Poor Piccola, who is about 6 yrs old, is incontinent and suffers from diarrhea daily. She's desperate for the help she needs. Dante needs to return to his home country of Italy for continued treatment for his leukemia, but can't leave Piccola behind in such a dire condition herself.  She has been treated by VCA Animal Hospital, 2506 Lincoln Blvd, Venice, CA 90291.

I volunteer in dog and c at rescue and have seen a lot of love and bonding between animals and their humans; the bond between Dante and Piccola is the strongest I've ever seen! The devotion they have for each is beyond bounds and Dante is furthering his own health issues worrying about and trying to care for Piccola.

Piccola needs help right away. Dante needs help. He also needs to know there are people who care about his situation and want to be there for him. He's in this country because his son is in school here and Dante wants to be near him, but Dante needs to go back for his own treatment as soon as possible.

Whatever you can donate will go a very, very long way to healing both Dante and Piccola. They are both deserving of a good life with the love and comfort they bring each other. Because Dante is my friend, I, too, will be forever grateful for any help you can give.
