Phyllis Levioff was many things; a mother, a wife, an economist, a manager, a friend, a dedicated member of her community, a poet and an all around very special lady. It is with deep sadness and regret that our family writes the words that no one wishes they have to....last Sunday, February 18th we had to say goodbye.
She fought the kidney disease (diagnosed five years ago), the cancer (diagnosed seven months ago) and several other ailments that struck in that time and all at once (especially after the cancer diagnosis) with unparelleled grace and dignity.
As a family we not only weathered the storm that was the past seven months around Mom, we had to do so simultaneously with Dad (and we are happy to say he is well on his way in his recovery journey). We are exceedingly grateful to all the staff we've crossed paths with in this time across the hospitals, physical rehab facilities, in-home care groups, dialysis centers, the hospice facility and the drivers who got us where we needed to be and when. The care with which both of them were treated was done with just that, care.
We are kindly asking for help to defray the medical and end-of-life costs for Mom's care these past six months as well as those for our final farewell to her (a private memorial gathering to take place March 11). Any donation would be of great assistance and we would also appreciate any spreading of the word for this campaign should you be willing. All funds will be coming directly to her daughter Natanya Levioff who is in charge of arrangements.
The continued words of kindness and support that keep coming in mean more than we could ever express and we are so very thankful to have so many people in our collective lives who care so much.
