Phyllis & Joe Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Colleen Green, and I'm fundraising for my sweet parents, Phyllis & Joe Stansbury. The catastrophic hurricane Ian's eyewall ravaged their home for 13 hours nonstop. The 175mph winds ripped their roof off, blew torrential rain that collected in their ceilings, and then collapsed onto everything. They have been without power, drinkable water, and propane for their generator for a week. It has been especially difficult for them because they refuse to leave whatever they have left of any value because of widespread looting in the area. They both have medical issues that require electric medical devices to sustain their quality of life.
I'm humbling myself on their behalf to ask for donations to help them to get back on their feet after this disastrous event. Joe is 85, and my mom Phyllis is 81. Their homeowner's insurance went bankrupt on Oct. 1st, and they left the state of FL. It is a horrible situation filled with so much confusion and uncertainty. They still have not heard a word from the insurance company, and it is nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone.
If you have had an opportunity to meet my parents, you know they are salt & earth people who have used their entires to help and serve others, whether through their occupation or church. They have given anything they have had to help others. My mom is a pretty emotional person. She gives so much of her heart and emotional capacity to those in need and carries their burdens in her heart to pray over. Joe has been the go-to guy with the Mary Poppins garage that supplies whatever tool is needed and the knowledge to go with it. When he can, he jumps right in and fixes the issue, no questions asked. He prefers to be the guy that works behind the scene, not wanting any accolades, but he never turns down a cold beer or glass of wine. He has worked all his life at Esskay in Baltimore, representing his union members and going above and beyond to care for them, especially the retirees.
The funds raised will be used responsibly to care for my parent's immediate needs and whatever it takes to get them up and to move forward to a life of gratitude. Prayer is paramount in our lives, and God has been so Good and Faithful to us. I know, because of our relationships with Jesus and His promises to take care of us, that we will all come out of these trials much better people. His power will sustain us, and his protection will surround us. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, and if you are able to make a donation, we appreciate it more than you could ever know. If you would like to send a note of encouragement to my folks, their address is 12411 Cole Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33981. May God shower his blessings upon you.
