Phyllis' Breast Cancer Medical Fund

Spende geschützt

My sister Phyllis was recently diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative breast cancer. She was diagnosed after a biopsy. This happened around June 12th. We are now in August and it's been a whirlwind of tests, surgeries and chemo. She had a biopsy of the breast then later a biopsy of the lymph nodes. For those who know her you know that she is tiny. She is about 4ft 9 and 98 pounds. Due to her size her doctor did not want to risk her veins collapsing so she recommended that she have surgery to put in a port. The picture of her in the silver hospital hat is the day of that surgery. Her chemo started the day after the surgery. Her doctor reviewed that working her usual long hours would not be feasible or advisable during treatment. Due to the hefty schedule of doctors appointments, surgeries, chemo and radiation she discussed her options with her supervisors and made the heartbreaking decision to focus her full attention to fighting the cancer and took a medical leave. She loved her work and was/is loved by those she worked with.
Phyllis is a trooper and is trying to stay positive through it all.
She has always been a hard worker and has held 2 jobs for the last 20 years. Everyone at her work knows her as the quiet tiny woman. This is one of the few times in her life where she has no income. Our family is pulling together and covering her household expenses. but we can not cover all of the mounting medical bills. Phyllis has been hard pressed to accept financial assistance but it's come to a point where there's just no other way. She has health insurance. We're all astounded by how much is not covered by the health insurance. She was hiding the medical bills from her family because she knew we would try to pay what we could.
The chemo is taking a toll on her little body and she needs all her strength to fight it. We want to give her peace of mind that she will continue to have a roof over her head and be able to continue her treatments. Her children Adrian, April, Douglas and Tamika are pulling together to help out. April has a newborn but still comes by everyday to cook and help clean the house. Tamika transports her mom to and from her appointments with her 1year old riding along.
Phyllis has received your kind get well wishes and she looks forward to them and the words of encouragement.
We thank you for your emotional support and your prayers that you have provided.
As Phyllis battles this dreadful cancer I hope that you will offer her your continued prayers and join us in helping to relieve her of the financial burden that is weighing on her mind. Please donate what you can...even $5 per person will make such a difference in her stress level. Please reach out to your churches. Prayer is always the best medicine.
May god bless you.
Thank you for your well wishes, prayers and donations. All are greatly appreciated! - Melissa Sefah and Family
