Phuong Tran’s Funeral/Hospital Expenses

Our friend Phuong Tran passed away this morning. She was a beloved mother, wife, friend, and coworker. Phuong has passed away from pancreatic cancer and kidney failure. She was 54 years old. She doesn’t have many family members living here in OKC. So we are here to help and support her family.
She left for vacation in late February to visit her family in Vietnam and to attend her late mother’s memorial. In the first week in Vietnam, she experienced pain in her stomach. Every time she ate she experienced pain and vomiting. Her three weeks visit in Vietnam, she was mostly in pain. As her trip in Vietnam was ending, on the way back to the United States, the airport didn’t have wheelchairs for her and she couldn’t walk so she had to crawl. By the time she got back to the U.S. she went straight to the hospital. She was then transferred to OU hospital. Phuong couldn’t eat so she lived off I.V. in the hospital for two weeks before she passed. Visiting her in person, you could notice she lost a lot of weight and was very weak. She is no longer feeling any pain and is resting easy. She has no medical insurance and we believe due to her long stay, it will be an expensive medical expense. We are unsure about their financial plans for the funeral as well.
Her friends at VII Asian Bistro (coworkers and friends) are creating this GoFundMe to help her family dealing with all these financial burdens. Her husband is unemployed. She has a 19 year old daughter Freshman college student. Phuong was the main provider for the family.
Thy Nguyen, the former employer of Phuong Tran, is in charge of this campaign. This campaign is run in Oklahoma City and mostly supported by the friends and customers that had crossed path with Phuong when she was alive and serving them with a smile. Once we get the funds from GoFundMe minus the 2.9% and .30 per transaction that GoFundMe deduct, we will give the check directly to Phuong’s husband. He has already been informed of this process.
