Photo-Giving Trip to Haiti

I have the exciting opportunity to join a team of six photographers and other missionaries on a trip to Haiti November 3rd-12th, 2017! I will be joining the organization Picture the Nations on a photo-giving trip. The mission of Picture the Nations is to equip photographers to use their creative gifts to fight poverty, fund missionaries and show the beauty of people in every nation.

On this trip, we will be venturing off the beaten path to capture portraits of people we encounter all over Haiti –their beautiful faces, buildings, landscapes, and culture. We are bringing small portable photo printers along with us so that we are able to hand them a print of their portraits on the spot! This is a treasured item for many in the developing world, as some have never had a family portrait taken!

Would you please consider supporting me in this opportunity to use my artistic gifts to fight poverty? PTN is a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible organization. Your donation will go towards flight costs, lodging, printing supplies, food, and admin needs such as guides and translators.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas. Estimates in 2015* suggest that nearly 60% of Haiti’s 10.4 million people live on less than $900 per year with 24% living on less than $500. *world bank.

The 2010 earthquake revealed the extent of Haiti’s infrastructure problems killing 200,000 people, destroying 300,000 buildings, and displacing 1.5 million people. Haiti is known for poor leadership, violence against women, child labor, and human rights abuses.

It is in areas of great darkness where bright lights are needed.

There are many thousands of organizations serving the poor in Haiti. All of them need funding. Our goal is to create a coffee table Picture the Nations - Haiti book that will be distributed to nonprofit organizations serving Haiti for only $5 each. These organizations will then “sell” these books for $25 or more to raise funds for their charity. If a charity sells 100 books, they would raise $2000 for their organization. Coffee table books showing the beauty of the Haitian people will also be sitting in homes all over America generating even more funds.

Please keep the entire team in your prayers as we trust God for funds, plan trip logistics, and minister around the beautiful country of Haiti in November.
