Phoenix Fund: Guatemala

Andres made us aware of an urgent need. His uncle's home was destroyed by fire. His uncle, Juan, and his wife, both handicapped, were unable to rescue their children trapped in the home, due to their disabilities. When the fire began their eight year old son was able to escape on his own. Neighbors courageously rescued their seven year old son and three year old daughter, although both suffered severe burns and were taken to the hospital and their daughter's arm had to be amputated. 

Tragically, their five year old son was burned alive in his sleep and could not be rescued in time. They were left with nothing and feel utterly lost.

Sounds of their cries could be heard throughout the village all through the night as they helplessly watched the terror of the loss of their son along with everything they owned. All their clothes, their coats, their shoes, their corn and beans "“ everything... gone. Ravaged by fire.

Together, we can help bring them back to their feet. While we mourn with them for their loss, we also must respond with our actions. We need to raise $2800 to build a new home measuring 5 x 4 meters that will be able to accommodate 3-4 beds. That's all it takes. C'mon guys. Reach down deep and lend a hand.
