Phoenix Grange Small Batch Soup Kitchen

Dear Family, Friends and our Communities

On September 8th of this year, our cities of Talent and Phoenix were devastated by the Almeda Fire. More than 2,350 residential structures were burnt to the ground. Over 50% of our town's families have been displaced. Rebuilding homes lost to the fire will take several years.

When we learned our building was still standing on Main Street in Phoenix, we realized the tremendous good fortune of its survival. This represents to our members an obligation to open the Grange Hall and be a center for a community that needs to grieve, salvage, rally and rebuild; a resource for the residents of Phoenix.

We, the members of Phoenix Grange #779 are proposing a free soup kitchen three days a week; not just to serve the people displaced by fire, but also to serve the people working to rebuild.

We plan to open our doors this Friday October 9th and start providing soup.

Your donations will help us pay for the ingredients, and compostable bowls and serving utensils which will allow us to feed our community from now till the new year.

We are donating our time, and our grange hall.

Our intention and purpose is reaching out to the Phoenix, Oregon community with warm soup and kindness. A delicious handmade warm meal served in our Grange Hall underscores our commitment as Grangers to Faith, Hope, Charity, and Fidelity within the community.

The best resources and talents our driving members Megan Jones, Josh Welch and Katherine Breedlove can bring to this effort are our combined decades of experience preparing and serving food. We understand implicitly that food is love, and we want to give this to the community.

Many of you have had the pleasure of our commitment to food, service, community and love. Some of you we know from the many years in the San Francisco Bay Area. Others were lucky enough to have their hearts melted by Josh and Katherine's company OnoPops in Hawaii.  Our newest community and friends have enjoyed our flavors right here in Medford, Oregon! We never tire of hearing folks say "you are the best restaurant in the Rogue Valley."

Please help us continue to bring love and flavors to those around us during this time of great need, grief and rebirth.

From the ashes our Phoenix rises.
