Medical Funds Needed for Phil M.

Donation protected
Dear friends of Phil,  Ann Marie, and the Mangum family,

At the beginning of this month, Phil underwent a very unexpected emergency heart surgery.  While on the road to recovery with months of expected home care and rehab already ahead of them, Phil suffered a setback and is once again in the Critical Care Unit after suffering multiple strokes.  With multiple days in the CCU and emergency life-saving surgery, the bills are mounting and the Health Savings Account is dwindling quickly. Ann Marie is currently unable to work as she needs to be by her husband's side while he fights the unexpected challenges facing him.

The future is still uncertain as to how long he will remain in the hospital and the long rehabilitation ahead of him. His family needs our help by contributing to this fund to offset the huge expense that his medical care will require.

As a friend of Ann Marie's, I know the number of lives she has touched by being an Instructional Assistant at Thoreau Elementary is extraordinary. She is rarely without a smile or a warm and sunny greeting and both students and adults adore her equally. Together, they have raised amazing children and three have even continued on her path of helping children and families in our community through education, social work, and nursing. Phil is a loving husband, a dedicated father, and doting grandfather that is full of sage advice that he will share with you, but only if asked.  :) His presence at Thoreau while waiting for his granddaughters to finish the school day is sorely missed by many.

Phil and Ann Marie were also actively involved in Boy Scouts for many years, both as leaders and enthusiastic parents, they even started a pack! Phil has been involved in LW Youth Soccer for decades. All 5 of their kids played, and he coached 2 of their teams from littles through high school. He also referees and trains referees.

While 2 of his children where at EAS, he was a cook on camping trips and volunteer at the school. He also spent many hours volunteering at Thoreau Elementary when the kids were younger. In fact, Phil and Ann Marie received the Golden Acorn award for their services then. Since then he has faithfully been the "money man" at Thoreau's yearly BBQ, as recently as just a few weeks ago.

By contributing whatever you can you will be lessening the financial worry and stress that comes with any medical emergency of this magnitude and will free this wonderful family to focus on what is most important right now: Phil and his recovery.

Please donate today...no amount is too small.  Prayers and well wishes are also very much appreciated. Please, leave a message on this site!
