Phillip Marshall Medical and Rehab

Hello friends.  I’d like to take a moment to talk about a wonderful person named Phillip Marshall.

Phillip is the best kind of person and friend.  He’s incredibly intelligent, funny, kind and extremely loyal.  His boisterous laugh is one of the most contagious laughs I’ve ever heard, and he is always that person trying to make everyone feel included and cared for and feel like they belong in a group setting.

Phillip has worked with the IATSE (The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, including the local 127 and 500) for almost two decades.  He has also been a part of the fandom community and will talk both your ears off about Star Wars, his one very big and one very small dog, his kitty Charlie, barbeque and football, among many other things, if you’re lucky and you let him!

As you may or may not know, our friend Phillip has been through quite the medical ordeal.  In May of 2016 he was injured at work.  A cart was coming down a ramp and Phillip tried to slow it so that it wouldn’t run someone else over.  He had tendon and ligament surgery in August of 2016 and he was getting better, but the tendon ripped again because of the curvature of his foot.  In September 2017 he was given a total foot and ankle reconstruction where they broke ALL of the bones in his foot and reset them in a way that the ankle surgery could be successful.  He was in bed for four and a half months in pain afterwards.  A few months ago, one doctor in particular informed him he may lose his foot, but “Peg leg Phil” doesn’t have a great ring to it if you aren’t a pirate, so Phillip has been working very hard in a comprehensive rehabilitation program.  He’s doing an AMAZING job, as he is now able to walk for several minutes at a time, and that is quite the accomplishment considering the level of pain he is dealing with.

According to his orthopedic surgeon, it will be another 10 months before he is again 100%.  Phillip needs to continue to press his recovery, but his benefits are set to run out soon.  In order for him to be able to regain the full use of his foot and get back to work doing what he loves with the IATSE, he needs to maintain the same intense therapy schedule that he is currently on – but needs our help to do so.

If you know him, you know he would drop everything and selflessly help any one of us.  If you know him, this won’t be a difficult decision to make.  If you don’t, just know this is a man worthy of your help and support.  He is simply a wonderful person.  Please help in any way you can.  Thank you!
