Phillip Bianco Music Scholarship

Hi everyone.  As you may have heard, we recently lost our beloved dad, Phillip Anthony Bianco. He died surrounded by his family at a hospital in San Diego on June 8th. 

As a way to honor our dad's legacy, we are raising money for a music scholarship. Our dad was passionate about music and education. He taught Shakespeare & English Literature for nearly 40 years in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mt. Lebanon. He also started the Jazz Ensemble (then called the Stage Band) at Mt. Lebanon High School in the early 1970’s.   Our dad was a professional saxophonist & clarinetist. From the early age of 13, he toured & performed professionally in the Mid Atlantic & Midwestern United States with orchestras, symphonies and dance bands.  In addition, he taught private students saxophone & clarinet.  When he retired from the high school, he went on to teach college students at a branch campus for Penn State and The Community College of Allegheny County.  

Depending on how much we raise, the scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis -( through the Keynotes of South Hills Foundation: http://www.keynotessouthhills.com/ )-to a student of music who demonstrates exceptional skills in the Mt. Lebanon or Greater Pittsburgh area. The money will be used for instrumental studies, music ed classes, books, new instruments, equipment, etc.
