Help my friend Philip build his farm

Donation protected
Hey everyone, I am raising money to help my friend Philip build his farm so that they can eat for the holidays. Philip and I met back in 2013 when he was my tour guide through Kibera—an urban slum in Nairobi where people live in extreme poverty. Far from being 'poverty porn', the trip left me feeling hopeful and optimistic. Philip was kind, cheerful, and dynamic as a guide. He was proud of what his community had accomplished with next to nothing. This included building a public restroom which converted human waste into energy to power the community. I was deeply impressed.

However, since the pandemic was especially hard on Philip. He had to close his guiding business due to a lack of customers and resettled in Bondo, a small town in Western Kenya, where he lives with his wife, two kids (Adrian and Everlin), his brother, and two aging parents.

Right now, Philip and his family are starving. They lack money and the basic means to support themselves. He reached out to me a few weeks ago for support when their house collapsed (which I happily provided), but I want to do more than just provide a band-aid solution. He is trying to build a farm so that he and his family can eat, but right now they cannot afford sugar, let alone the equipment necessary to build a farm. Despite this, he is determined to become financially independent has provided me with a list of what he would need to get his farm up and running.

This includes:
  • 15 Iron sheets at=12750sh
  • Nails 5kg =1500sh
  • Chain link 3pairs =8500sh
  • Plywood 4 piece's=2400sh.
  • Chickens and goats =20,000sh
*Prices are in Kenyan Shillings*

This list totals about $388 CAD. I am setting the goal at $500 so we can give him a little bit extra for the holidays. For less than you make in a week you can set someone up for life.

Please help me help my friend.
