Phil and Lana Wegman living and medical expenses

My father Phil has recently had a heart attack and gone in to heart failure. The whole ordeal began November 21st in a hospital Wausau WI and he was airlifted to Milwaukee where he has been ever since. He was on life support for 10 days and has had several surgeries as well as on going kidney dialysis as his low heart functionality and heavy medication has caused his kidneys to fail. His family has been on a nightmare rollercoaster ride of good news one minute and earth shattering news the next. We have been constantly terrified that we were hours from losing him forever. His wife Lana has been by his side through everything and if you know her, you know she loves him dearly. My dad has been the sole provider for their household for years and sadly, it seems his working days may be over. He loves his job and it will be crushing to him when he finds out he may not be able to return but his heart is very sick and needs to recover. His physical therapy will be extensive and could last for months. Unfortunately we just don’t know yet what his recovery will look like or if he will fully recover. Lana needs help with this enormous burden that she now finds herself saddled with. She has had to find lodging in Milwaukee and will have to be able to stay until he is discharged from the hospital as well as pay she and my dads every day bills until this is all over. The hospital bill will be substantial and we still don’t know what the final cost will be but he has been in ICU for 2 weeks already so we are expecting it to be hefty. Lana may need to move back home to Seattle WA to be closer to family while she takes on the responsibility of being their sole provider. If you are reading this than you probably already know my father and step mother. My dad is loved by so many for his sense of humor, story telling, and larger than life personality. I have been so uplifted by the cards and letters that have arrived at the hospital from his many friends all over the country. I don’t think I can ever thank you all enough for that. He has a long and arduous road ahead of him but he has a dedicated partner in Lana and I am so thankful for her. I am asking that if my dad and Lana have touched your life that you please let them know that they are not alone and help cushion this enormous financial burden for Lana. She is taking this all one day at a time and trying not to think about the financial stuff too much right now, so I think it’s up to her kids to make sure that this be as easy for her as possible.
