Our good friend and her family are in need of financial support.
Phaedra is a single parent of two lovely children and an active community member in the Guelph area.
She is one of our best friends and one who shows so much love and compassion daily. Phaedra's love for her children, friends and community is fierce.
Phaedra and the children's other parent have been separated now for over 2 years. The children were sharing time between both parents up until May 2018.
In May of 2018, the other parent decreased his time with the children and withdrew from many responsibilities. This has created a lot of turmoil for the children and the whole family. Simultaneously, Phaedra recognized the dynamics were becoming toxic and unsafe. These interactions have been tirelessly emotionally challenging for Phaedra and the children as well. The children's other parent has participated in many violent and controlling behaviours towards Phaedra and continues to cause emotional instability for her and her family.
It has become clear that the other parent isn't interested in collaboratively working together, in a way that it is nurturing of their children's well being.
As a result, Phaedra has decided to file for sole custody of her children to provide more stability for the family; this comes with expensive legal fees to retain a lawyer.
As well, the children themselves are suffering emotionally from the instability created by the recent withdrawal of the other parent and both them and Phaedra will be seeking family/child counseling; also a costly, but necessary endeavour.
