The Orengo Family and Friends Fund

Now that we have heard from our family and friends in Aguadilla, PR and we are most grateful that eveyone is ok, we are also learning how difficult and unbearable living conditions are in Puerto Rico in the days after the hurricane. There is no power, no light, no water, no cell phone reception or means of communication, no trees left to provide shade from the tropical sun and the corpses of dead animals rotting on the streets. People are using the pouring rain to take a shower outside.
We are taking a trip to Aguadilla on 10/18, trying to convince our family to leave the ruins behind, that have now become their homes and come stay with us for some time. In the meantime, we will try to bring as much food and supplies for people in our community as we can check in on the flight. FEMA is doing the best they can, but it is not nearly enough.  Also, transporting everything to an island adds additional cost to any of the help.

We may not be able to help hundreds but I believe that if hundreds tried to help a few in their community, we can all make a difference on a larger scale. If we collect enough donations, when we go there, I am hoping to be able to offer anyone out there, to pay for their flight ticket, if they have someone they can stay with in the mainland. Getting people out of the island will also help expedite recovery efforts and free up much needed supplies for the ones who have nowhere else to go.
