On the 4th August 2024 we lost our Dad to cancer after he bravely fought the disease for 4 months.

In his memory I am now running the Newry Half Marathon to raise awareness of the disease and fundraise some money for Action Cancer in Northern Ireland.

2 months ago I didn’t run. I have never really ran much in my life. Then I grudgingly got signed up for the Newry 10K. When I surprised myself by running further than this in training I decided to give myself a real challenge and do the half marathon!

Our Dad was the strongest man I ever knew and watching him battle cancer like he did without complaint was an inspiration. We all miss him dearly everyday. I know his memory will keep me going during the race.
