Our sister, Arlene has been battling colon cancer since the summer of 2014. At 46 years old, it has now progressed and now has peritoneal metastatic colorectal cancer with Kraz gene, stage 4. Initially, the Doctors were very aggressive with her treatment because she was healthy, young and had no other illness. She had endured 2 different chemo therapy treatments before receiving a HIPEC surgery and was on remission for at least 6 months last year. 2017, her colon cancer reoccurred and this time it came back with a vengeance. She took on another chemo treatment until they found out that her cancer was a type of Kraz mutation which means conventional chemo therapy will not work so chemo was immediately stopped. At this time, the cancer has spread out to her peritoneal (stomach lining) and is now on stage 4 cancer. She was placed on a clinical trial which was halted in September because the cancer has grown and she is starting to develop the effects of the cancer progressing. We were given the news that the Doctors have exhausted all their resources including clinical trials in trying to fight this cancer and they placed her on palliative care. My sister was given 3 to 6 months to live.
She is currently under a naturopathic and a private doctor who just like us are fighting this fight with her. The treatment is a combination of oral DCA (Dichloroacetate) Therapy and herbal supplements which are not covered by the insurance so everything is out of pocket.
We are reaching out to anyone who is willing to help support her continued care and help ease some financial cares. Every little bit helps, we want to keep this fight going for as long as we can.
The funds that we will receive will go to her treatments ($1,500/month) and other expenses pertaining to support the therapy. Your help will alleviate monetary worries that she has and will help her focus more on healing.
Throughout this ordeal she has shown us how much of a warrior she truly is. She has endured many trials throughout this journey, physical, emotional and mental battles but she remained calm, collective and hopeful. Her outlook in life is something to be admired, she never looked at herself as a victim but looked at herself as someone who CAN and WILL overcome and beat this disease. Her faith remains strong and her positivity remains unchallenged. She never backed down from this fight since day 1 and we would be fighting even harder for her.
We are moving mountains for our sister to be free of this disease and for her to live life the way God had intended her to live. However, we cannot do it alone and we need help.
