Petey Lee belongs to my dear friend, Journey Lee. Petey is not only her beloved pet, but he also serves as a medically certified therapy dog. They would be lost without one another. He has been her rock through a couple of near-death experiences, major surgeries,(recent 2nd spinal operation) and assists her with PTSD and PD.
A few days in to the new year, Petey started getting sick, very sick, and he hasn't been able to eat now for over a week. He is currently receiving fluids and other medication to help him, BUT HE HAS A LONG WAY TO GO. Dr Bryant began ordering Petey to be syringe fed a critical care food, IV fluids, and several meds a few days ago, so he has all of this at the hospital as well as at home. (Journey has worked in the veterinary world for several years but is unable to go back yet since this last back surgery!) Basic diagnostics have not determined a cause of his illness, though X-rays and blood panels have been done.
He will get an ultrasound tomorrow, which will cost $350.00. This is in addition to the treatment he has already received and a bill that will be about $600.00 by tomorrow. If the ultrasound doesn't show what is going on, then more aggressive diagnostics will be performed.
This dynamic duo really needs our help!! Anyone who knows this dog knows what an awesome, incredible boy he is - Petey Lee is one of a kind and needs us! He not only provides therapy for his human, but over the years at Salem Animal Hospital he has proven therapeutic to our other patients and their owners as well. Surely all of the love he has put forward and negative stigmatisms he has overcome over the years can be repaid in these efforts to save his life!
