Petey Fights Parvo

Donation protected

Our sweet boy, Petey was diagnosed with parvo on 10/10/2020. He hadn’t been feeling well the past couple of days, and started showing more extreme and frightening symptoms earlier in the day. As the day progressed and his symptoms worsened, we rushed to the nearest animal hospital per advice of the vets office.

We arrived for our appointment in Richmond at 4:30, and we ended up not being able to get Petey admitted into the hospital until around 9:30. He wouldn’t hardly let us hold him or anything. He just wanted to be left alone to sleep in his cage. It was now two days since he had ate or drank anything.

Unfortunately part of the reason it took so long to Petey admitted into the hospital is because of how expensive the deposit was that had to be paid up front. They gave us an option between this more expensive but also more effective in patient treatment, versus an at home treatment that would be cheaper but could possibly not make him better. We knew that it would be near impossible to gather up the amount of money that we needed, but after hours of exploring different options we were finally able to get the money to admit him into the hospital.

The staff at the hospital seem to be very nice, and they are open 24/7, so we can call whenever for updates. Last we checked, Petey had just got hooked up to fluids and was doing better.

We have had a lot of financial burdens lately between sickness and car trouble. We just spent our savings on a new vehicle that has basically stayed in the shop the whole time. We are doing everything we can to get ahead, but it seems impossible. This is a large financial burden on us to have him admitted into the hospital for 2-4 days, but it was worth the money to save his life. Prayers that he continues to recover and that his sister doesn’t get the virus or any neighborhood dogs. Any donations are greatly appreciated ❤️
