Help Save Pete’s Life
In November 2019, I met Pete at Memphis Animal Services and he immediately stole my heart. He was about 3 months old when I brought him home and was a healthy, energetic, mischievous kitten. He would purr loudly to express his love, meow loudly to tell me that he was hungry or needed attention, and growl when he disapproved of something. Fast forward to August 17, 2019, at the young age of 10 months, I brought Pete to the vet because he was struggling with breathing and hadn’t ate or drank in a few days. I thought that he had a little cold or something that antibiotics would make him recover; however, after the vet drained 100ml of fluid from his lungs, did 2 xrays and a few other tests, he was diagnosed with FIP and given 2 weeks to live. After doing research and connecting with a group of people that experienced the same thing, I learned that there’s a treatment for FIP that isn’t commonly known, but has clinical trials that prove its success. The treatment is 12 weeks long and requires at least 2 repeat bloodwork samples. At first I was skeptical, but Pete has shown encouraging improvement after his 2nd treatment. He went from barely breathing and not eating 3 days ago to eating on his own and following me around the house and ordering me around through his meows.
I’m not one to ask for help, but when it comes to my children and fur babies, I’ll ask for help as I see it needed and right now, it’s needed. The vials are approximately $90 each and will last about 4-5 days. It’s an 84 day treatment.
I know times are difficult now as I’m just returning to work after a 3 month layoff. If you could donate at least $5, it would help immensely! If you’re unable to donate, please share my fundraiser so Pete has a chance at living a full life. I can’t bare to see his life end after just 10 short months.
