Peter's New Hip

Peter got his first hip replacement when he was 36 years old after being diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The first doctor he saw told him he would have to wait 10 years for surgery and so he sought out a second opinion. Peter was lucky and found an amazing doctor who was willing to do the surgery based on his need and not on his age. When they opened him up, the doctor said he had no explanation for the amount of arthritis present in the hip. Being young Peter recovered quickly from surgery, lost the weight he had gained being immobile and went on with his life.

Peter is now 40 years old and scheduled for surgery on his other hip this April. He is asking for your help now as he does not have any disability coverage for the 6-8 week healing period needed after surgery. His current job requires him to walk 10-12 km a day and there are no options for modified duties. The funds raised will help to pay basic household bills and give Peter the peace of mind to fully rest and recovery, without the stress of worrying about the next mortgage payment.


Peter has to travel across the country to receive his surgery and he has already recruited his family to house and dog sit for the 2 weeks he is away. His wife Andrea will travel with him and care for him, using her vacation time and flexible work schedule. 


Peter is very fortunate to have a supportive family and an excellent surgeon. The time has finally come for him to end the daily pain he has experienced for so many years and he is so grateful for your support.
