Peter Walks for Kids

In February of 2019, I am leaving my job as the rector of St. Ambrose Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colorado. On March 4, I will begin a walk across the country to raise money for four different organizations that do great work on behalf of children - in the United States and in other countries. The project is called 6 Million Steps for Kids, because I will take more than 6 million steps as I walk 3,600 miles.

This next part of my calling involves a huge leap of faith. I am giving up a secure job with benefits to pursue a God-given dream that had its inception 10 years ago. On paper, none of this makes sense. I am 61 years old and at a life stage where many people are looking forward to slowing down and retiring. However, from a faith perspective, from a perspective of listening to God's guidance in pursuing something that lights me up AND is of service to others, it makes a lot of sense.

The money donated to this site will go toward the following expenses:
- replacing some of my salary
- helping with health insurance costs
- helping to cover costs while I am walking, such as eating in local diners, replacing worn out shoes, staying in a motel once a month for some R&R, and the occasional dark chocolate bar or Atomic Fireball (two of my favorite candies).

I am clear that I cannot accomplish this goal by myself. I deeply appreciate your support of this project. Your generosity will enable me to realize my own dream, help children in many parts of the world, and inspire others to take their own leap of faith.
