Support my friend Peter and his brand to make it to Doha
Donation protected
My friend Mohamed Adam (aka Peter), founder of Peter & Black, has been selected to participate in the prestigious M7 Fashion Pop-up in Doha this November 26th and it couldn't come at a better time. This event is a significant opportunity for both Mohamed and his brand to showcase their work, connect with new markets, and share the beauty of Sudanese craftsmanship with a global audience, when the war in Sudan has made it hard for him and so many others to share this beauty.
Why Peter & Black and Mohamed need your support
Last year, Mohamed was forced to flee the war in Sudan, leaving behind his home in Khartoum. Now rebuilding his life in Nairobi, he has worked tirelessly to continue growing Peter & Black. He has had to start from scratch, losing his client base, suppliers, workshop, and so much more. Despite all this, Mohamed’s passion for his brand and its mission remains strong. The M7 Fashion Pop-up represents a crucial opportunity for both Mohamed and Peter & Black to relaunch and expand.
Mohamed owns Peter & Black and this campaign is about supporting the brand as it not only re-establishes itself, but takes on a new role in light of the Sudanese war.
Cost of the event
The total cost to participate in the event is approximately $10,000, which will cover:
- Event Fees: $4,000 for participation.
- Accommodation: Estimated costs for lodging during the event.
- Logistics: Flight tickets from Kenya, visa, insurances, transportation and other necessary expenses.
- Taxes and Customs: Fees related to importing materials and products.
- Permit License: Required documentation for participation.
- Marketing and Promotion: Efforts to promote the brand and collection during the event.
Your support will help Peter & Black take this important step toward re-establishing itself and sharing Sudanese artistry with the world to show that Sudan is much more than the current war that's happening.

By contributing to this journey, you are not only helping a small business rise from the ashes but also supporting the preservation and celebration of Sudanese craftsmanship and culture on an international stage.
Thank you for being part of this transformative journey.
My comment
Peter is one of the most generous people I know. He has not only helped me in times of deep need but I have heard the stories of how he has helped so many others, including gathering money for them when they most needed it. This is my (our) turn to give back to Peter. And not just to Peter, but to Sudan, to highlight the hope for a brighter future.
I met Peter at a fashion show in Nairobi, Kenya, in May of this year and we quickly connected. Over the following months, and after many conversations, we became very close friends. He even brought me to his workshop and very passionately (and patiently) taught me how to make two beautiful leather drink coasters.
Despite me being from Michigan, we see the world in similar ways. I was one of the first people with whom he shared the news about this pop-up and I felt the excitement in his voice even though I was over 10,000 km away. So when he said he wanted to do a GoFundMe but needed someone in the US to organize it, I knew I had to help.
