On Tuesday April 28th, Pete "Sweet Pea" Greenly died suddenly of a heart attack, about two weeks past his 51st birthday. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kate Hanson Greenly and three amazing children, Ben(College FR), Grace(Graduating SR) and Lane(SO). Pete, a.k.a Sweet Pea, a.k.a Sweetness touched the lives of more people than he could have even understood; we all lost a great man and friend.
He had an infectious smile and a contagious laugh that would brighten any moment and made everyone else laugh and smile. To quote a friend of Pete's, “I don't have A favorite Sweet Pea story, I have THOUSANDS of them”. There wasn’t a father or husband more involved than Pete: riding bikes with the kids, playing with Moses (dog), gardening, fishing with the kids, teaching the kids to drive, helping with homework, and cooking. You name it, Pete did it with his family.
His faith in Christ was the driver of his life. Pete was a volunteer counselor to young married couples. He taught about the effort, love and respect it took to make relationships not only work but flourish. For his friends, Pete would do anything. We have heard many people say ‘he was one of my best friends’ which sums up the impact he had on people. From the first moment you met Pete, he made you and everyone around you feel special, always taking time to listen, laugh, and love. He was very generous with his time, talents and treasure – in part, his truck with +200K miles told you what he thought was important.
Therefore, we are creating the Pete "Sweet Pea" Greenly Memorial Trust in his honor. The trust will assist in providing for the health, education, maintenance and support for the Greenly family. All GoFundMe donations will fund this trust, which will help fill the many needs of Pete’s family during this difficult time and into the future they are now forced to face without his help and guidance.
We ask that you consider supporting Sweet Pea's family. Supporting them helps each of us carry on his legacy of faith, love and laughter. Any gift will be a small token compared to the friendship Pete shared with us. We can never hope to replace him, but we can demonstrate how he moved each of our hearts with joy.
