Peru For 2: The Volunteer Adventure

Hello there!
You're probably wondering what this whole thing is about and why we're asking for your support. Here is the deal, it involves best friends, volunteering and a cultural experience of a lifetime. It all started when both of us began working to make plans to study abroad this summer 2014. The more we looked into our respective trips, we found the price of going was extremely high and for only two week trips. Shelby's curriculum in design and Cheyenne's in education highly suggests that we study abroad, so we weren't ready to give up on the goal of traveling.
After study abroad options fell through we began searching for missions and service trips abroad. Traveling with a purpose was our new goal and we were immediately excited about going on a possible trip together.
Then we found the trip.
The trip we found through International Volunteer HQ was to Lima, Peru. It is cost efficient, allows us the live with residents of Lima and would guide us in working everyday at a nearby orphanage or school to teach children english. This trip is a chance to travel together, serve others on a daily basis and experience travel within Peru as well. We felt that if we were going to stay in a community for a 2-3 week time period it only made sense that we gave back. Working with children everyday suddenly made our study abroad options through KU seem unimportant. If given the choice...we'd pick Peru.

This is why we are asking for you help. We are both full time students at KU working enough to just get through school on a monthly basis. This coming summer 2014 will be our true last chance for travel before graduating the following year. It will give Cheyenne great experience for she is studying elementary education. It will give Shelby great experience as she has been working with non-profit organizations and designing books for her design major.
We have combined our fees ($1500 for each of us) into this one campaign. It is something we hope to experience together. The fees include flights, registration/program fees and insurance. We are saving up our money as well and it will be added to the total in the end.
If you'd like to help, we would greatly appreciate any donations, advice and prayers you are willing to offer. At first we were hesitant to reach out for help in our funding, but quickly realized we wouldn't be able to do this on our own. We are grateful for any help; we consider any contribution a significant contribution.
In return we will send our thanks and updates as we begin our journey. When we return you can look forward to a letter describing our experiences in Peru and pictures of the adventures we went on.
