Please help the WA Powerchair Football Team get to Brisbane for Nationals in September and to Sydney for Club Championships in January.
Powerchair Football is the newest, most innovative version of the world game of Soccer (or Football) to hit WA. It's a dynamic, skillful, non-contact team sport that's played 4 on 4 indoors on a basketball sized court. Anyone who uses an electric wheelchair can play this competitive yet fun sport. There are even opportunities for the elite athlete to compete at both national and international levels, being played in 31 countries and around most of Australia. Every year in September the Australian Powerchair Football Association (APFA) hold their annual National Championship. In 2018 the competition is being held in Brisbane and will feature QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, WA and NZ. In January they hold the Club Championships. In 2019 the competition is being held in Sydney and will feature Perth Glory, Western Sydney Wanderers, Sydney FC, Central Coast Mariners, Newcastle Jets, Brisbane Roar, Melbourne City and Adelaide United. The WA team needs your help to get to these tournaments.
Unfortunately we do not have the funds to be able to cover the full cost of the trips and players are having to use a significant amount of their own money to compete. Expenses normally include flights, accommodation, transport, equipment, and player registration. This is about $3,000 for a player and their support worker to get to the competition.
