I am Nikki, Rodney’s aunt and I personally want to thank everyone for their donations. Your love and generosity has been incredibly amazing. I wanted to let you know that the donations will be used for a service, to pay his financial responsibilities and the remainder will be given to Rodney’s father Filipe to cover expenses that Rodney took care of. I will be withdrawing the money and writing a personal check to Filipe with a print out of the itemized donations, fees and etc. to ensure that he has received 100% of the donated funds.
Thank you again for your generosity and I will be posting on the Facebook this evening the memorial information.
Update 10/29/17 9:14am - Although it has been a very difficult decision Rodney’s father has made the choice to remove all life sustaining measures today due to the brain injury that Rodney has sustained from this senseless crime. Thru this very tragic loss however, there is the possibility of 7 people’s lives being preserved by the donation of Rodney’s organs. The family thanks all of those who have sent messages, phone calls, prayers, Love, came to the hospital offering support and those who have made financial donations.
The need for donations has now changed to include a memorial for our beloved Rodney, to pay financial obligations that he had and the remainder will be given to Rodney’s father Filipe to cover expenses that Rodney covered for him. Please continue to keep Rodney’s family and friends in your prayers during this time.
Thursday morning 10/26/17 our beloved Rodney was found beaten and left unresponsive until medics arrived. He is now in Harborview Hospital hanging on to life. Due to the nature and extent of his injuries he is unable to work and take care of his financial responsibilites as he was hours previously.
We as his family and myself, his Aunt Nikki, are humbly asking for donations to help cover those financial responsibilities as he lay helpless in his hospital bed. The money will go towards his rent, water, garbage, utilities, credit card payments and any other monthly bills that he is responsible for and the money that is left over will be given to Rodney’s father Filipe to assist him with the financial portions that Rodney was covering for him.
Rodney is a giver and if he was reading this for someone else, he would get out his wallet and donate. That is they kind of guy he is and that is why we love him so much. He has a very gentle and kind soul! This is why this sensless act of violence is so uncomprehensible!
