The Need
Tens of thousands of EMT’s, emergency room staff and other healthcare workers across LA County are being exposed to asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers every day. Many do not have adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to keep themselves or their patients safe.
Who We Are
combineLA is a collective of engineers, makers, scientists and other creatives in the Los Angeles area, collaborating to manufacture personal protective equipment (PPE) for donation to local hospitals and medical facilities.
Hospitals and healthcare facilities can submit requests for PPE at https://combine.la. Volunteers who can help manufacture can join the team.
The Solution
Our goal is to keep our material costs below $1.50 per face shield.
We are currently manufacturing Face Shields from PETG plastics using a mixture of 3D Printing, and Laser Cutting.
We are also investigating other manufacturing methods and other forms of PPE for production.
Your Contribution
100% of your donations go to the purchasing of materials to be used in the fabrication of Face Shields and other PPE.
Access to specialist equipment and other resources are donated by the many makers assisting us.
Deliveries of PPE are made directly to hospitals and healthcare facilities and we manage delivery of raw materials to the makers on a regular basis.
