Ending Period Poverty Project

Life in absolute poverty is unimaginable for women who wake up in warm beds, breakfast in the kitchen, and sanitary pads available to them. Life in an Indian slum is a far cry from this, many people in Indian slums live on less than $2 a day. About 17.4% of India's population lives in slums and 60% of the population live on less than $3.10 per day. Obviously, this makes sanitary products seem like a luxury. As a matter of fact, a mere 18% of Indian women have access to sanitary products. The impact of COVID-19 is unimaginable on girls in India as many get sanitary products through their schools as a part of a government initiative to promote menstrual hygiene. However, with the closings of schools these young women have lost their supply of sanitary products. Since these women can't afford sanitary products they use old rags. This can lead to health issues and stops women from working and providing money for their families. Thats why I'm raising money to distribute sanitary products to women in the Mumbai slums. Sanitary pads in India usually cost between 5 and 12 rupees each. $1 can buy 20 pads. In the amount of money it takes to buy a cup of coffee, you could help make a real difference in someone's life.
