PERIOD @ MoCo & STEP's Packing Party

We at PERIOD are a global non-profit organization that aims to combat period poverty, along with the stigma around menstrual hygiene that follows it; because we are a branch of this menstrual movement based in Montgomery County, Maryland, what we strive to do at PERIOD @ MoCo is aid those in need within our county by donating free menstrual products to them, rallying people so that they recognize the severe injustices towards those who menstruate by writing articles, and even lobbying for equality at Congress. One of our main ways to donate to those in need, however, is by organizing events such as Packing Parties, in where members place nine pads and six tampons, along with a few other goodies, into paper bags which we would later on donate to various shelters/people in need. To lift people's spirits about current events, and to fit in one last fundraiser, PERIOD @ MoCo decided to plan one of these packing parties, but also incorporate the idea of a Halloween-themed fundraiser! For this event, we are collaborating with Students to End Poverty, or STEP, as their morals of donating to charities and shelters and PERIOD's of contributing menstrual hygiene products align with one another; however, these products are taxed as luxury goods–an ideal we are trying to abolish– and food, decorations, and items which we need to make the event COVID-friendly are extremely expensive. As high school students who currently do not have a source of income, we must produce the funds for our advocacy events out of pocket. If you could, to aid us in making this packing party as impactful and fun as possible, a simple donation of even $5 would work wonders for our organizations!! Thank you so much!
