Period Blud

To All the Wombs, and all those who came from a womb ~To All of You. Period.

As you may or may not know, I am working on a new piece for #internationalwomensday. Its a visual poetry story about  - yup you guessed it - periods. I am using this as a vehicle to raise awareness and money for two amazing charities: Freedom Charity which deals with the prevention of and protection from the horrific practice of FGM and forced marriages, you can find them and the amazing work they do here www.freedomcharity.org.uk. I first heard about this mutilation technique over 10 years ago reading the heartbreaking memoir 'Do They Hear You When You Cry' by Fauziya Kassindja. It feels so utterly wonderful to finally be doing something to help and I've put my heart and soul into the vision of this project to do it the justice it deserves.
The other charity is A Bloody Good Period who work steadily to create a 'sustainable flow of menstrual protection for those who can't afford it'. Check them out here; www.bloodygoodperiod.com There is some serious #periodpoverty and dangerous practice happening on home turf peoples. Help me do something about it!!

The last visual poetry piece we made was seen over 1.2 million times across 3 different platforms (Barbican FB/YouTube/Vimeo) you can view it here and see the kind of quality we are working at.(https://www.facebook.com/BarbicanCentre/videos/10155911414619193/)

We will be running a T-Shirt campaign alongside the next Period Blud video, 50% of all sales will go to Freedom Charity and the other 50% to Bloody Good Period.
We are asking for your generosity to help pay for the equipment for the video shoot, to be able to get a great editor and sound designer on board to really make this a spectacular piece ready to go viral and bring in some serious support for these amazing charities!
We already have an amazing director on board Orban Wallace who championed the award winning  Another News Story (https://www.anothernewsstory.com/) shot at the height of the refugee crisis in 2015. Nine incredibly talented poets and dancers have agreed to be part of the project. We are all giving our time and energy to this project for free, for the love and the passion of using creativity to spread awareness of important social issues.
There are some things which do not come for free though!! Like the hire of lights and camera equipment needed to make this film look as great as it is destined to be or hiring sound studios to record ADR after the film is shot. I would be so so delighted to receive your kind donations to give this project the final push, to smile with delight when the campaign goes live and watch as the views pour in and the t-shirts fly out generating much needed funds for these two incredible charities.  I've worked so hard on this, putting in crazy hours and self funded everything so far so please give what you can, big or small it is all so so deeply appreciated. Everyone who donates will receive a credit in the final movie which will be released on International Women's Day, March 8th 2020 to great acclaim. What we've achieved so far already feels incredible and we have until March 1st to raise the extra £1500 we need, please please help make this possible, the women in need will feel your loving energy and I will work tirelessly to deliver this piece in the most incredible fashion!! Thank you dear wonderful beings!! Join me on this amazing journey. Much Much Love, Amy Anam Cara xx
