HELP Amani Go to Europe
HELLO.....
I was one of 3 students at my school invited to take the European Heritage
Trip which allows me to visit 7 different countries: England, France, Germany,
Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland. This would be an amazing
journey not only because I would get to travel out of the U.S., but also
because I would be experiencing culture at first hand. I would get the
opportunity to talk to locals and learn many cool new things. Once I get to
England, I will have the chance to talk to a member from the British Parliament
and once in Germany I would be staying with an actual family who live there. I
find it crazy to live in a world like ours and to be clueless of what goes on
around us. This would be the opportunity of a life time. Not only would I be
able to visit these wonderful places, but I would have the chance to meet new
people. Also I would be able to get a chance in the real world without parents,
earn how to be on my own, and become more self confident in doing things on my
own.
Thank
you to all of you who are contributing to help me take this opportunity and experience
all the benefits it has to offer. No donation is too small! It
truly means a lot, as this will be a trip of a lifetime!
About the Program:
Founded in 1956, People to People, is a
program that allows students in Middle School and High School travel around the
world. This organization was founded my President Dwight D. Eisenhower, along
with the top 100 American leaders who joined him.
In 1956, President Eisenhower proposed a
peaceful solution for a war-ravaged world. That solution? Give everyday
citizens of different countries the opportunity to meet and get to know each
other, and the result will be understanding, friendship, and lasting peace.
Out of this vision came the "People to People" movement and the
inspiration for People to People Ambassador Programs. Starting with the first
traveling delegation in the early 1960s, People to People Ambassador Programs
began to break down cultural barriers by providing short-term travel
opportunities with the personal, behind-the-scenes access that Eisenhower
envisioned.
Today, 50 years later, Eisenhower's vision has
transformed to match the needs of our modern world. With increased access to
international travel and the Internet, the globe has become a much smaller
place. People to People interactions are more important than ever as we learn
to co-exist and thrive in a global society.
The goal is simple:
Provide students the international experiences to increase their global awareness in a truly global society.
