The People's Holiday Fundraiser

This year has been unspeakably hard for all of us. Missed gatherings. Missed celebrations. Missed loved ones. And so many other missed moments, but our distance and isolation does not prohibit us from showing up for one another when we are most needed. To that end, we organized this fundraiser in solidarity with families who have been impacted by the criminal injustice system, and we hope that you can join our effort to send love and support to at least 20 families with $250 this holiday season. Any amount is a meaningful contribution to our campaign and community.
James Baldwin once wrote “I do not claim that everyone in prison here is innocent, but I do claim that the law, as it operates, is guilty, and that the prisoners, therefore, are all unjustly imprisoned.” At this moment, over 2.3 million people remain incarcerated during a global health crisis. Black and Brown folks constitute an overwhelming majority of America’s prison population. It is well documented that incarceration impacts not only those imprisoned but also their families, including children. You might not know it, but you know a kid who has/had a parent in prison. There are 7 million+ of them in the US. Many kids with incarcerated parents suffer from stigma and shame, but we strive to remind them that the indictment is not of them but of the system.
The People's Holiday Fundraiser stands with the children and families of incarcerated parents. Together, we will raise money for families, which will be distributed through local ties and grassroots organizations in several cities across America. Your support will enhance our initiative to provide gifts and minimize the financial burden of the holidays. You can donate here or via CashApp ($ThePeoplesFundraiser) or Venmo (@ThePeoplesFundraiser | 1994-last 4 digits).
Once you donate, be sure to SHARE this fundraiser on your social media and with your friends, and please let us know of any families who can benefit from support this holiday season. We truly appreciate your kindness and contribution!
