Please help Penny and her family during her recovery from a brain tumor.
On November 20th, Penny underwent an emergency treatment to relieve pressure in her cranium caused by a benign brain tumor called a Colloid Cyst. Several days later, after the emergency drains had stabilized her condition, she had brain surgery to remove the cyst.
The cyst was located almost exactly in the center of Penny's brain and had restricted the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This caused headaches, chronic fatigue and dizzyness, and eventually became life-threatening. The surgery to remove the cyst was sucessful, but the road to recovery could be long and rocky. Penny is still in the Neurology ICU at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where the medical team can monitor her progress and watch for any potential complications.
The total cost of Penny's treatment and recovery is unknown at this time. A long hospital stay is expected, followed by time at a rehabilitation facility and then home under the care of family and friends. Speech or physical therapy could be required. The financial burden of short and long-term care will be substantial.
Penny's husband Joel is a retired police officer. As Penny's primary support during this time, he will be unable to supplement his pension with other work.
Penny and her family need to focus on what matters most at this time: Healing. Please help if you are able.
