Okay. So a few people have heard that Penny their dog isn’t doing the best a few days ago they noticed that Penny was a bit less active but nothing to be concerned about, they figured it was just the colder weather and the fact that’s she’s around 10/11. She was still going up and down the stairs no problem. Yesterday morning they noticed that she was very hesitant about going down the stairs. By around 12pm I noticed that she was dragging her right leg, Caroline had called the vet immediately and canceled the rest of her day. By the time they left the vet she had no use of her back legs. They determined that she has full sensation except around her 5th vertebrae. They assume she has a ruptured disk in her back. They need to bring her to Saskatoon for further tests and ultimately surgery. Ideally they would have brought her yesterday, but easier said than done. A 9 hours drive, work, kids in school and a huge vet bill is something they need a day or 2 to prepare for.
Surgery is estimated at $3500-$5000 conservatively, it can be $8000+ easily and there are no guarantees. She would be there for between 2 days to a week+.
They are all in a complete mess, trying to figure everything out and all the uncertainties about cost and time are literally making Caroline physically ill. This girl is part of their family so we/they are going to do everything in their power to get her back to her old self.
Any Donation that you could make towards this family to help them in this difficult time, and would be much appreciated.
