Peltier-Charles family & Dominica

Donation protected
While my friend, and talented chef, Nyanda has been visiting me this summer,  tragedy struck her home and family.  She had been living and working in St. Maarten for the last few years where her home was destroyed in hurricane Irma.  She is originally from the island of Dominica where daughter currently attends school while living with her sister.  Hurricane Maria has ravaged the country, leaving her sisters home and all belongings destroyed and her parents home with significant damage.  Her husbands family has had several fatalties.  She will be leaving to meet her husband in Antigua and then somehow get to Dominica as soon as possible.
The devastation is hard to put into words and watching her go through the process of not one but two hurricanes, is overwhelming.  Having to rebuild a life after tragedy is hard enough, but to do it in an area that has been completely destroyed with zero economy or jobs is an overwhelming process.  To not know where you will sleep, how you will eat, get water, have medical assistance if needed is mind boggling.  And remember..people can not just leave and go work in another country even if they had the money, there is a little thing called a visa..imagine...
