<div>Alice is 8 years old and lives with Rett Syndrome. She depends entirely on others for mobility, care, and comfort. Right now, the lack of an adapted vehicle puts both her health and her mother’s health in danger. This fundraiser is about ensuring Alice can safely reach the care that allows her to keep moving, connecting, and living with dignity.

<div>My name is Isa, and I am organizing this fundraiser for Alice and her mother, Salomé. Salomé has been my friend since childhood, and I am starting this campaign on her behalf to support her and her daughter in a very real and urgent need.

<div>Alice loves cats, the sound of the wind, being in the water, and spending time with her family and friends. Alice lives with Rett Syndrome, a rare and incurable genetic neurological disorder that primarily affects girls.

<div>Rett Syndrome causes a gradual loss of motor, communication, and social skills. For Alice, this includes regression in abilities such as walking and speaking, as well as serious gastric, cardiac, and respiratory challenges. For the rest of her life, Alice will depend on others for almost everything: to eat, to communicate, for personal hygiene, to sleep, and to find comfort and calm.

<div>This is not a race or a temporary situation. It is a slow, lifelong journey—and one that no family should have to walk alone.

<div>Salomé is Alice’s mother and sole caregiver. Every day, she works tirelessly to ensure Alice can attend medical appointments, therapies, and activities that are essential to preventing further regression and supporting her mobility, communication, and quality of life. Alice depends on continuous care from a multidisciplinary medical team and ongoing therapies simply to maintain the abilities she has today.

<div>Why We Are Asking for Help:
</div>
<div>Salomé, like many mothers, takes on the daily responsibility of making sure Alice can leave the house, attend medical appointments, go to her therapies, and participate in all the social and educational activities she needs. However, due to Alice’s reduced mobility and the absence of an adapted vehicle, her transportation logistics become extremely difficult and physically exhausting.

<div>Alice continues to grow. Each time she needs to be transported, Salomé must physically lift her repeatedly to place her into and out of the car. This constant physical strain is painful, exhausting, and puts both Alice’s and Salomé’s health at risk. Without an adapted vehicle, there is no alternative available.

<div>An adapted vehicle would not simply be helpful—it is a true necessity. It would allow Alice to be transported with dignity and safety, without inhumane physical strain, and would give this family greater autonomy, peace of mind, and quality of life.

<div>A Alice é uma menina linda de 8 anos, de Portugal. Gosta de gatos, do som do vento, de estar na água e de passar tempo com a família e os amigos. A Alice vive com Síndrome de Rett, uma doença genética neurológica rara e incurável que afeta maioritariamente meninas.

<div>A Síndrome de Rett provoca uma perda gradual das capacidades motoras, de comunicação e sociais. No caso da Alice, isto inclui a regressão de competências como andar e falar, bem como graves problemas gástricos, cardíacos e respiratórios. Para o resto da sua vida, a Alice dependerá de outras pessoas para quase tudo: para se alimentar, comunicar, cuidar da higiene pessoal, dormir e encontrar conforto e tranquilidade.

<div>Esta não é uma corrida nem uma situação temporária. É um percurso lento e para toda a vida — e nenhum família deveria ter de o enfrentar sozinha.

<div>A Salomé é a mãe da Alice e a sua única cuidadora. Todos os dias, trabalha incansavelmente para garantir que a Alice consegue ir a consultas médicas, terapias e atividades que são essenciais para prevenir uma maior regressão e apoiar a sua mobilidade, comunicação e qualidade de vida. A Alice depende de cuidados contínuos de uma equipa médica multidisciplinar e de terapias regulares apenas para manter as capacidades que tem hoje.

No entanto, devido à mobilidade reduzida da Alice e à ausência de um veículo adaptado, a logística do transporte torna-se extremamente difícil e fisicamente extenuante.

<div>A Alice continua a crescer. Sempre que precisa de ser transportada, a Salomé tem de a levantar fisicamente várias vezes para a colocar dentro e fora do carro. Este esforço físico constante é doloroso, desgastante e coloca em risco a saúde tanto da Alice como da Salomé. Sem um veículo adaptado, não existe uma alternativa viável.
