About Us
Auticulture Network has been formed by autistic adults for autistic adults to demonstrate by practice what we can achieve, to help reduce some of the misconceptions about our condition, our value as individuals and in society.
Using our experiences of setting up a gardening and nature appreciation group at two sites in Glasgow, Scotland, our aim is to create a template that can be replicated by autistic adults elsewhere, and we hope to encourage more of our number to explore opportunities to increase their fulfilment in life by forming local groups of their own.
This is about self discovery, self motivation and self esteem and the ripple effect of benefits derived from using our templates and experiences to create a personal plan, additional to the limitless benefits of being a part of a supportive and empathetic network.
Goal setting, fresh air and exercise, social interaction and skills development on one's own, manageable terms, helping to reduce stigmatisation. We plan for every group to arrange sessions allowing partners, carers and family members to enjoy the same benefits too, so the joint experience of autism can become a happier one for all involved.
How We Will Use Funding
Every penny counts and many small amounts will add up help to support our development as individuals and as a group encouraging more people to enjoy more from life. We need to fund practical items like tools and materials for gardening and record our experiences to share so others can learn from our successes and otherwise. Most of all we need to be able to ensure we have the means to continue to provide safe spaces where our members can find retreat and understanding from others with shared, lived experience.
