(FR) Introduction:

Pendant 12 semaines deux étudiants se lancent dans la fabrication d'un kart Next-Gen, le P.E.K. P-One! Un kart avec un moteur de moto, des palettes au volant, un tableau de bord tactile et un aileron pivotant (type DRS de la F1). Venez suivre les aventures de Matthew et Amaury dans le monde automobile!

Ce projet est coûteux et nous commençons avec un budget de 0€, c’est-à-dire que nous comptons sur les fonds personnels, les partenariats entreprises et le crowdfunding pour pouvoir le réaliser! 

Contribuez à la réussite du P.E.K. P-One par un don. Les fonds récoltés serviront à l'achat de pièces tels que le système de refroidissement et les trains roulants, et à l'usinage des pièces sur mesure.

(ENG) Introduction:

During 12 weeks two students set out to build a Next-Gen Go-kart, the P.E.K. P-One! A Go-kart with a motorcycle engine, flappy paddle gearbox, a touch screen dashboard and a swivel spoiler (type DRS from F1). Come follow the adventures of Matthew and Amaury in the automotive world!

This project is expensive and we are starting with a budget of 0€, that is to say, we are relying on personal funds, business partnerships and crowdfunding to be able to carry it out!

(FR) Qui sommes nous?

Nous avons tous les deux fait un BAC STI2D avant d’intégrer une École d'Ingénieur en électronique/informatique (ESEO Angers), où nous sommes actuellement en 4ème année. Pendant nos études, notre intérêt pour le secteur automobile n’a cessé de croître et nous avons même géré le club automobile (ESE’Auto) durant deux ans.

Aucun de nous deux n’a suivi une formation mécanique automobile, toutes nos connaissances ont été apprises en autodidacte sur internet ou dans les livres!

Matthew a découvert son amour pour l’automobile en achetant un kart fait maison à 15 ans, avant de le restaurer et de le modifier les années suivantes. Il a réalisé dessus un premier projet de boîte de vitesses robotisée, lors de sa deuxième année de prépa, c’est ce même projet qui sera amélioré et implémenté sur le P.E.K. P-One!
Matthew a regardé plus de 1000 heures de vidéos de voitures sur YouTube!

Pour Amaury, c'est au 24H du Mans que son intérêt pour l'automobile se créé et depuis il multiplie les rassemblements, les stages et les weekends entre amis autour de la mécanique.
Il manque de cours théorique mais comme tout bon copilote il est motivé et déterminé à mener à bien le projet P-One.

(ENG) Who are we?

We both did a BAC STI2D (French diploma) before entering an Engineering School, specializing in Electronics/Computer Science (ESEO Angers), where we are currently in our 4th year. During our studies, our interest in the automotive industry has grown steadily and we even ran the school car club (ESE’Auto) for two years.

Neither of us have any automotive engineering training, everything we know about cars, we learnt by ourselves on the internet or in books!

Matthew discovered his love for cars when he bought a homemade go-kart at age 15, before restoring and modifying it in the following years. During his second year of university he designed electronic paddle shifters for it as a project, which is going to be upgraded and installed on the P.E.K. P-One.
Matthew has watched over 1000 hours of car videos on YouTube!

For Amaury, it was at the 24H of Le Mans as a teenager, that his interest in the automobile was created and since then he has multiplied meetings, training courses and weekends with friends around cars and wrenching.
He lacks theoretical lessons but like any good co-pilot he is motivated and determined to carry out the P-One project.



(FR) Le Projet en détail:

Le projet est nommé P.E.K. P-One pour Projet Entrepreneurial Kart, Prototype One et nous avons un bureau à l’ESEO Angers où nous allons travailler à plein temps sur le projet. Nous avons jusqu’au 27 Novembre pour le réaliser, soit environ 1000 heure de travail à nous deux.

La conception et la réalisation du projet se divise en trois parties:

Dans un premier temps, nous nous occupons de la partie moteur et le premier roulage. Cette partie comprend donc le refroidissement, le faisceau, la gestion et les trains roulants.

Ensuite nous attaquerons les améliorations! Ces améliorations sont inspirées des différentes technologies utilisées dans le sport automobile:
   -Une boite de vitesse robotisée avec des passages de vitesse à 50 ms en WOT et 200 ms en embrayage piloté.
   -Un aileron pivotant de type DRS des Formules 1, il permet de réduire la traînée en ligne droite et augmenter l'adhérence. Accompagné d’un aileron avant pour équilibrer.
   -Un tableau de bord tactile avec les fonctions classiques d’un tableau de bord mais également du launch control et des boutons pour gérer les autres fonctions et améliorations.
   -Des feux de croisements, des feux de stop et des clignotants séquentiels.

Enfin si nous avons le temps nous souhaitons concevoir l’ECU nous même où intégrer des fonctions supplémentaires: GPS sur un deuxième écran, une carrosserie complète.

(ENG) The Project in detail:

The project is named P.E.K. P-One for “Projet Entrepreneurial Kart, Prototype One” and we have an office at ESEO Angers where we will be working full time on the project. We have until November 27 to complete it, which is about 1000 hours of work between the two of us.

The design and implementation of the project is divided into three parts:

First, we are going to get the engine running and the go kart driving. This includes: cooling, fuel, wiring harness, engine management and the running gear.

Then we will tackle the mods and upgrades! These improvements are inspired by different technologies used in Motorsports and sports cars:
   - A robotic gearbox with gear changes at 50 ms in WOT and 200 ms in piloted clutch.
   - A Formula 1 DRS style pivoting rear wing, it reduces straight line drag (when open) and increases grip (when closed). Accompanied by a front wing for balance.
   - A touch screen dashboard with the classic functions of a dashboard but also launch control and buttons to manage other functions and mods.
   - Headlights, brake lights and sequential indicators.

Finally, if we have the time, we would like to design the ECU ourselves or integrate additional functions such as GPS on a second screen or composite bodywork.
