The Widower's Support Network is a for-profit business (although it has never recorded a profit) created by Herb Knoll following the death of my wife in 2008. Adopting the name, Widowers Support Network (WSN) in 2003, the mission of WSN is to comfort and assist widowed men and those who love them. Many have labeled WSN as a ministry, as it continues to expand its services including

FACEBOOK PAGES: WSN maintains two Facebook pages, "Widowers Support Network" (WSN) which serves the general public and "Widowers Support Network - Members Only" (WSN-MO) which serves widowers as well as men who have lost a life-partner; experienced an unwanted divorce or the breakup of a significant relationship; and men serving as caregivers for seriously ill spouses. WSN-MO alone currently serves over 1,100+ men from 29 countries.
MONTHLY ARTICLE: WSN publishes a monthly article that is made available free of charge to multiple media outlets, including OpentoHope.com, the NationalWidowers.org, MennMore.com, GriefToolBox.com, and others.
PODCAST: WSN also produces the Widowers Journey Podcast (WJP), a lively and informative series of episodes designed to deliver healing conversations featuring the insights offered by widowers and subject matter experts to men (and women) who are grieving. WJP is available from all podcast outlets and services free of charge.
All services provided to those served by WSN are FREE, with the exception of the retail sales of the book, The Widowers Journey (available at Amazon.com).
One can easily imagine the expense associated with the production of so many high-quality products and services, and that's not counting the time required to produce so much healing content.
From 2013-2018 alone, WSN net expenses exceeded $60,000, a number I am unable to sustain long-term without eliminating select operations. If called upon to do so, it would be disappointing to those who have come to rely upon WSN and its FREE services. For the record, WSN has no intention of ever establishing a membership fee. To be effective, WSN needs to remain a FREE service to its subscribers.
Given the growth in the demand for its services, WSN needs to turn to its supporters, its members, and its subscribers, for assistance. To be clear, WSN does not hold any expectation that each person reading this petition will contribute to its financial needs. WSN is only appealing to those who first are in a position to offer some level of support and, secondly, believes in WSN’s mission to comfort and serve widowers and those who love them.
Perhaps WSN has been there for you during your time of need. You may have - in some small way - benefited from the insightful articles WSN posts weekly, compliments of WSN's outstanding volunteer editorial team, or were able to receive sage advice from one or more of WSN fellow members when you presented a question that had been troubling you. Regardless of the reasons you may hold, any support you may be able to provide would go a long way to the continuation of WSN and its services.
