Pegu Club Cocktail Bar - Staff Relief Fund

Hi Everyone,
I'm Audrey Saunders, owner of the Pegu Club in New York. Here's what Pegu looks like right now. The covid-19 virus has forced us to close for the unforeseeable future, and it's a heartbreaking vision that goes for all bars. A bar is nothing without its guests, and an empty one is both financially devastating and incredibly soul-crushing for the bar family who depend on it for survival. I am heartbroken that Pegu had to close and that we had to lay off all of our employees in order for them to receive unemployment benefits which clearly won't be enough to live on. Please help support the Pegu employees by providing some disaster relief.
From the day Pegu Club opened its doors in 2005, we've sweated a lot of details and played a very large role in getting the craft cocktail industry up & running. We've mentored many of New York's finest bartenders, and beyond. We've tried our very best to support and serve as a beacon to both our local & global community.
Pegu has also given back whenever possible. For the last 15 years, we've served behind the scenes as the liquid backbone for NYC's Citymeals-on-Wheels annual Chef's Tribute, and through the outstanding support of our sponsors have raised over 500k for them. In times of disaster, we never thought twice about hosting a fundraiser. From the day our doors opened coinciding with Katrina, to Sandy, to Tsunami relief for Japan or raising money for an ailing bartender in need, you name it, we've seen all of them through. Because it was simply the right thing to do. It's what we were meant to do.
You laughed with us, cried with us, and maybe you even picked up some skills from us. Now I'm asking for your help for my team. Please help them get through this frightening nightmare. They are broke and without means. In normal circumstances they'd give you the shirt off their back at the drop of a dime. No more dimes left in the coffers, though. They all lack sleep and peace of mind.
You can help them restore some of that that peace of mind by donating the cost of just two Happy Hour drinks. I'm asking for only $ 20 per donation…. multiply that by all of you and it would be a great deal of relief for all of them.
100% of whatever you donate will go directly to Pegu Club's staff via Venmo. Please do this for them, and for me.
