Peers Victoria Resources Society
has been providing outreach, harm reduction and education services for sex workers for more than 20 years. Over the years, our facility has become run down due to the basic day-to-day and the growing needs for our services. Financially, we run a very tight ship.
This year, we were selected by HeroWork
for a substantial renovation. We applied because we needed an updated kitchen. The growing number of program participants and programs has taken a toll on our kitchen, which is currently not commercial grade. We often feed up to 75 people per day (20,000 meals per year).
After partnering and collaborating with HeroWork
, they proposed a comprehensive “radical renovation”. This includes tailoring our drop-in centre to the specific needs of our programs, redesigning our office spaces to accommodate all staff and students, as well as bringing our building up to code and making it more economically efficient, effective and safe.
Funds raised here go directly to Peers Victoria Resources Society
. All persons must have a safe space, support and health and legal assistance when necessary. Our work ensures that some of the most marginalised in society have access, are treated with respects and can locate appropriate resources.
This crowdfunding is complementing our Peers Powers Up events, with an overall goal to raise $50,000.
